Arrow Have direction before choosing college

Colleges, universities and trade schools specialize. They are not all made equal. Define your career goals first. Then talk to people who are successful and happy in the career area you are most interested in pursuing. Ask those people what schools offer the best education for that career area. That will give you a general vision of what to be looking for in a school. Then research educational choices that "excel" in that area. When visiting the school, stop by the "placement office". This is the department that will be able to provide you with # of job offers, average salary offers, etc. for graduating students in your career interest. You might also ask about companies that come to campus to hire interns for the summer or co-op opportunities (work - study programs).

Avoid choosing a school based on friends or sports.
